A South African female-led consultancy with specialisation in archaeology, cultural landscapes, bio-cultural diversity and memorialisation, Hearth Heritage has over 15 years’ experience in public and private conservation projects, in southern Africa and further afield.

Emmylou Rabe Bailey

Emmylou is a professional heritage specialist and archaeologist with expertise in cultural landscapes, landscape archaeology, historical archaeology, interpretation, memorialization, indigenous knowledge systems, and intangible heritage. She is registered with the Association of Heritage Assessment Practitioners and the South African Association of Professional Archaeologists as a Cultural Resources Management professional.

Emmylou is an expert member of the ICOMOS Archaeological Heritage Management, Water and Heritage and Cultural Landscapes Scientific Committees and serves on the ICOMOS SA National Committee ExCo. She has held heritage management positions at SAHRA, Heritage Western Cape, and the City of Cape Town EHMS.
